The medical includes the following :
Eye test
Snellen Eye Chart isn’t as complex as an optician examination and is performed by a Nurse as part of your medical.
If you wear glasses for driving please remember to bring them along to the medical appointment.
Blood pressure check
A blood pressure check will be carried out to identify any underlying potential health issues.
If you are currently being treated for high blood pressure and it is being controlled with medication the Nurse will need to know:
1. What Medication you are taking
2. The dosage
3. Reason for taking (this applies to any medication you may be taking).
A very high proportion of drivers over 45 have high blood pressure, so as long as it is being treated you will be ok.
Urine test
The urine test will be carried out to screen for blood, protein, and diabetes.
Hearing test
A hearing test will be carried out with the choice of two methods either via portable audiometry or a basic whisper test.
